People say the funniest, weirdest, rudest, and sweetest things when a widow is engaged.

  • “I’m so happy for you. You have been through hell and back. What a testament to God’s faithfulness.”
  • “HeeJun would  be so proud of you.”
  • “I wish I could have two weddings.”
  • Man, I can’t even get one ring on my finger and you got two. You must be doing something right.”
  • “Maybe my husband will die and I can have another wedding!” (I know, shocked when I heard that one!)
  • “You learned so much during this time and will be able to be the wife you always wanted to be. You won’t take anything for granted. You have gotten to truly know yourself and Christ during this time.”
  • “You are stealing my memories of HeeJun and I can’t join you on this journey.”

Guess which ones I replied with a “Thanks, I love you” verses a “You’re an IDIOT!”

  1. wow, i’m not even sure how to respond to this one. it sounds like you’ve gotten the full spectrum of responses for sure. As long you’re happy and you’re glorifying God in what you’re doing then no other opinions really matter when it comes down to it (although i know it would be oh so nice to feel overwhelming support from everyone on this). I hope you know how truly loved and supported and excited for you both that sooo many people are. God is good. Even when life can be crappy. I, for one, intend to continue to pray for you & for you & Chad & to praise God right along side of you for how He provides and restores. Love you!

  2. oh boy, thanks for sharing I got in a good laugh. No matter what people say your amazing, and inspirational. You deserve the best and I’m happy that your happy.

  3. ooo,ooo, ooo can I try? Ready?….wait for it…..
I think you are one courageous, amazing woman! And of course….God is so good =)
